Emotional Wellness comes from a place of strength and optimism.
“Emotional wellness allows us the power to realize, accept and express our feelings without constraint so that we will enjoy the expression of our emotions. It is a dimension of life that rewards us on a daily basis.”

The Emotional. How Important is it: Eudomonia.
Emotional Wellness: Connections, passion, joy, trust, and the elusive love that we feel for each other! Did I say elusive? Yes elusive, seems love is a simple gesture of feeling connected to others, simply so, feelings of love give a strong sense of connection and energy that leads us to accept the power of love to realize, accept, express, and, therefore, manifest our feelings without constraints onto all things. That’s a mouthful, yet so many of us confuse our “emotions” that range from the healthy to the infatuated. Let’s take love. Love as an emotion is a many-splendored thing, one could say that it touches divinity, that it gives redemption However you look at it, people tend to shy away from its exploration, and little yet include it as part of their lexicon. Emotional Wellness requires an existing “love emotion.”

Emotional well-being lets us become aware of what we contribute to the world and allows us to see how we can make our lives even more meaningful. Emotions are the driving force of our existence. Attaining a conscious state of our emotions, we realize the worth of our actions or reactions, and we begin to see that even the smallest and simplest act has an effect on someone else, society as a Whole. We need to be present for being part of the Whole in our Social as well as our Spiritual journey.
Emotions that come from a place of strength and optimism, offer us resiliency so that we are capable of supportive and interdependent relationships with others, which leads to Social Wellness. One balanced dimension of Holistic Health leads to a more functional existence.
Emotional Wellness much like Social Wellness and the other dimensions of Holistic Heath has much to do with the ability to successfully handle life’s stresses and adapt to change and the perception of difficult times. I say perception; although we may be going through something, our perception of the experience is what matters in actually moving past that which causes us angst.
In the last blog post, I brought to the forefront the awareness of our emotions as one important factor in what triggers our feelings and therefore thoughts. Thoughts that may make or break our intentions for a fruitful and serene life.
Emotional well-being is a play of non-judgment and acceptance of that which brings Eudomonia into play (a sense of purpose in our lives). Eudemonia is rooted in positivity, optimism, and grace. When we operate from a platform of building our emotional skill set, we are graced by the fact that we can focus on our root concerns, we can work past the pinnacle of doom and we avoid masking that which in the long run will unveil our true selves. We find that we are strong enough to deal with the ups as well as the downs and we can bounce back or put balance into the dimension of Holistic Health; the physical, the nutritional, the social, the spiritual, the intellectual, the financial, the environment that surrounds you, and finally this post’s topic, attaining emotional wellbeing.
How is it that the Emotional has so much pull in our lives? The Emotional is the basis of our existence and experience during this present lifetime. Emotions sum up or lead up to the actions and reactions that will in the long-run benefit in promoting Healthy Holistic habits, self-benefiting actions, and reactions instead of those that can be self-destructive in the act of bringing a balance to our lives. How do those emotions materialize? I would suggest that we need to dig in. Our human DNA has developed around much fear throughout the evolution of time. We may avoid it, or we may confront it, yet they are the same thing: Same elephant, different color.
What sets off most emotional experiences is our perception, which is the activity of our mind, which involves our brains. Sometimes this perception is conscious, sometimes it’s unconscious. Fear is often unconscious because it’s the most fundamental emotion to ensure our survival in the face of danger or perceived danger. We may avoid it, or we may confront it, yet they are the same thing: Same elephant, different color.
Emotional health is not to be taken as an absence of emotions; masking or hiding them from your reality. Emotional health asks us to be aware, make a conscious effort to be present for ourselves and accept what makes us tick, and respond in a manner that suits us and the world around us. What is our purpose, what are our intentions? Our subconscious may already be giving us hints, yet we “present” enough to understand our psyche, our clockwork. A bit of wisdom: we can at times confuse the symptoms of “dysfunction” with the same power and function that produce signs of health. We are concerned, we are doing good things, yet, we can’t get past the eery feeling in our gut, of angst.
It is known that the brain works out of a set of habits that we, its proprietor have put into play. The brain is a perfectionist that will carry on what we have set forward as our “standard operating procedure” to the tee. The brain will operate on these habits or procedures which it perceives as the solid positive operational entity in our lives. Got it, it is the habits we form that fuel our very selves. Those habits can be said to be created by the Friends or Foes of our existence. We often let our fears get the best of us, we mask them or treat them as part of the ordinary, when in fact, in my experience, fear is a fact of life. Making friends with the Foes is a great step forward in the great emotional frontier. Making an effort at changing the journey!
An emotion is a treasured personal unique identifier of our personal DNA. Lavish in it! Make it a Self-care activity. Get a nice fountain pen, beautiful ink and a great journal into which you start to understand the basis to your existence: your emotions1.
